This match up is the the equivalent of Roger Federer vs Rafa Nadal or Novak Djokovic in tennis. The flair player vs the battler. The genius against the ironman. Or in snooker etiquette, The Rocket vs the Jester. A complete contrast in styles. A guy in Ronnie O’Sullivan who can do 147s in just over five minutes, win best-of-19 matches in under two hours, and make the game looks ridiculously easy taking on a guy in Mark Selby who couldn’t care less how slow he plays or how boring his style is, he just finds a way to win.
Ronnie has set this match up nicely in the media after his victory over Mark Williams yesterday by saying; “Anyone out there, go and lump on Selby, I don’t expect to beat him. I don’t see anyone left in the tournament who can beat him over that distance.” Mind games, which Selby won’t fall for. And to be honest, I partly agree with him.
