Weekend SPFL Tips: My Five Best Bets in the SPFL – 31/08/19

Aberdeen vs Ross County – Aberdeen to win @ 1.61

Aberdeen host Ross County at Pittodrie on Saturday and I believe that the three points will go to the home side here. Aberdeen began the new season with a 3-2 win at home over Hearts, but they haven’t really built on that by taking one point from two away trips to St. Mirren and Kilmarnock.

Ross County’s last result was a surprise one as they were hammered 4-1 at home by Livingston. Aberdeen have won the last five meetings between these two in succession and I think they will take that to six as they return to Pittodrie.

St Johnstone vs Kilmarnock – St Johnstone ‘Win or draw’ @ 1.57

St Johnstone and Kilmarnock have both had a difficult start the new Premiership season, as both clubs are yet to win a game. St Johnstone sit 10th with two points after picking up two draws and a defeat from their opening three games, whereas Kilmarnock are rock-bottom with just one point to their name.

St Johnstone are starting to build some form at home where they haven’t lost since February. They are six games unbeaten at McDiarmid Park and they have kept four clean sheets within that run. The Saints last hosted Kilmarnock in November 2018 and it ended as a goalless draw. I can see St Johnstone securing another result this time around.

Airdrieonians vs Falkirk – Falkirk to win @ 1.80

Falkirk looked appeared to be an obvious choice to win last weekend, however they fell to a genuinely surprising defeat as they were beaten 1-0 away at Clyde. They had begun the season so well after taking seven points from their opening three games, so they need to bounce back this weekend.

Airdrieonians were also beaten in their last game, losing 4-1 to East Fife. They also lost their first home game of the season against Forfar. You would expect Falkirk to be too strong here as they look to bounce back immediately from that surprise defeat last time out.

Cove Rangers vs Queen’s Park – Cove Rangers to score 2+ goals @ 1.66

Cove Rangers are still enjoying their fantastic start as they picked up another win in their last match at Stirling Albion. That’s three wins from their opening four games and they sit top of League Two on ten points.

Cove to score 2+ goals looks like a great price again at 1.66 as they have managed that in every game so far. They have managed to score an impressive 14 times in their first four, including eight goals scored in their first two home games of the season. So far at Balmoral Stadium they have picked up 5-0 and 3-2 wins over Edinburgh City and Cowdenbeath respectively.

Annan Athletic vs Stenhousemuir– Both Teams to Score @ 1.61

Both teams to score looks like a good bet in this fixture at 1.61, as it has occurred in four of Annan’s last five games in all competitions, and that stat is the same with Stenhousemuir. Annan’s last match was a 3-1 defeat against Cowdenbeath, and their last home game was a 3-2 win over Albion Rovers.

Stenhousemuir’s last outing was a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Edinburgh City. What I am getting at here is that both teams to score is a common occurrence with these two sides.
