MyBetBuddy’s EFL expert takes a look through the weekend’s Championship fixtures and picks out his best bets.
Derby County vs West Bromwich Albion – BTTS YES @ 1.62
Two sides who are aiming for promotion will take battle in the Championship’s early fixture on Saturday. Philip Cocu’s Derby have had both teams score in three of their four league games so far. The Rams look to have no problem creating chances with Tom Lawrence in particular impressing so far this season.
Both teams have scored in all four of West Brom’s Championship games. The Baggies are always going to be a threat with Charlie Austin and Kenneth Zohore in their side, the latter opening his account for the club against Reading in midweek.
Fulham vs Nottingham Forest – Fulham Win @ 1.62
Fulham set the benchmark for Championship performances this season with a superb 4-0 victory over Millwall in midweek. Scott Parker’s side dominated the ball and set a new Championship possession record with 84.5%. It looks as if the Cottagers have found their feet in this league now and will be prepared to do more of the same against Forest.
Hull City vs Bristol City – Bristol City Win @ 2.80
Bristol City come into this one off the back of back-to-back wins against Derby and QPR. It looks as if Lee Johnson’s men are starting to hit some form and will fancy their chances of picking up another win against an average Hull side.
Grant McCann’s Tigers have only won one of their league games this campaign. They were defeated by Blackburn Rovers at home in midweek so are not in the best place at the moment. An away win represents good value at 2.80.
Stoke City vs Leeds United – Leeds Win @ 2.05
Marcelo Bielsa’s team have been absolutely excellent so far in the Championship. They have been the dominant side in every game they have played and currently sit top of the league with three wins and a draw.
Stoke have had a much less impressive start to the season. Nathan Jones’ men are bottom of the table with just one point from their opening four games. Jones has not been able to convert his chosen philosophies into Stoke since taking over in January. The Welshman has only won three out of the 26 games he has had in charge of the Potters.
Swansea City vs Birmingham City – Borja Baston and Lukas Jutkiewicz Both to Score @ 8.50
Both Baston and Juktiewicz have had very impressive starts to the season. Since returning back to the club from multiple loan spells, Baston has scored four league goals and is the Championship’s top scorer. ‘Juke’ has had to step up for Blues since their star man and last seasons top scorer Che Adams left the club for Southampton. Jutkiewicz currently has two league goals so far in four appearances which is a decent return.
