MyBetBuddy’s EFL expert takes a look at the weekend’s Championship fixtures and picks out his best bets…
Huddersfield Town vs Fulham – Aleksandar Mitrovic to Score @ 2.50
Mitrovic opened his account for the season in last weekend’s 2-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers. Last time Fulham were in the Championship Mitro was on fire – scoring 12 goals in 17 appearances. Once he can get some confidence the Serbian is hard to stop so he looks a good bet to get another goal on Friday night.
Stoke City vs Derby County – Derby to win @ 3.20
Nathan Jones’ Stoke side have not enjoyed a great start to the season so far. They lost their opening two matches, against QPR and Charlton, where they should really have been picking up points in both.
Derby have had a decent start to life under Phillip Cocu. The Dutchman has a solid return of four points from the opening two games – including an impressive away win at Huddersfield Town. That gives them something to build on when heading to Stoke on Saturday.
3.20 is a huge price for Derby with all this in mind.
Blackburn Rovers vs Middlesbrough – Middlesbrough Draw No Bet @ 2.10
Blackburn currently sit bottom of the Championship after consecutive defeats to start the season with. Tony Mowbray‘s side have suffered disappointing losses to Charlton and Fulham.
Middlesbrough were five minutes and a missed penalty away from ending Luton’s 17 month unbeaten home league record in. A narrow home defeat to Brentford followed this for Boro.
Jonathan Woodgate will be desperate to get his first league win as Boro boss. 2.10 Draw No Bet against bottom of the league seem good odds.
Barnsley vs Charlton – BTTS YES @ 1.73
Charlton have been a breath of fresh air so far in their first season back in the Championship. Two wins with both teams scoring in their opening two matches.
The last meeting between these two sides finished 2-1 to Barnsley in League One last December.
Both sides favour attacking football so this should be an open game with plenty of chances.
Reading vs Cardiff City – Cardiff to Win @ 2.10
Reading have had a torrid start to the season and are currently the bookies favourites to get relegated. Jose Gomes’s men have lost both of their games so far so confidence will not be in a good place ahead of the match on Sunday.
Cardiff secured their first win of the campaign against Luton Town last weekend. Neil Warnock showed one of his moments of genius by substituting on Isaac Vassell for him to score a stoppage time winner on his debut. Cardiff’s team is much stronger than Reading’s so odds of above Evens look good here.
