MyBetBuddy’s EFL expert takes a look at the weekend’s League One fixtures and picks out his five best bets. He landed all five of these in the midweek set of games.
Bristol Rovers vs Oxford United – Matty Taylor to Score @ 3.0
Oxford started the season very well as they took four points from Sunderland and Peterborough United. They have suffered two defeats since then but that will help motivate them for what is usually a tasty game with Bristol Rovers. These games do not need any extra spice but Saturday will certainly have it when former Rovers striker Matty Taylor returns to the Memorial Stadium for the first time since joining city rivals Bristol City. Taylor is a lethal goal-getter who is sure to get a hellish reception from the Gas faithful. This will drive him on to score and really rile the home fans.
Fleetwood Town vs Accrington Stanley – BTTS YES @ 1.83
Fleetwood have been right amongst the goals in League One with both teams scoring in all four of their games so far. Accrington have had a disappointing start to the season but have seen both teams score in two of their three games played. Goals should be likely here and the result could go either way.
Rochdale vs Blackpool – Blackpool Win @ 2.30
Simon Grayson has been terrific since he returned to Blackpool in the summer. The Tangerines currently sit top of the table thanks to three wins and a draw. They have shown that they can outplay teams, grind out results and play on the counter attack already this season.
Rochdale have not won since the opening day so are not in the greatest form. A midweek defeat to Sunderland is sure to dent confidence which points this game to be going in the direction of an away win.
Sunderland vs AFC Wimbledon – Sunderland Win @ 1.53
Sunderland have had two consecutive wins against Portsmouth and Rochdale to really signal their intent to get promoted this season. The Sunderland of last season would have perhaps only drew against Pompey after going a goal down early on, but it seems Jack Ross is learning from his mistakes and motivated his team to have the character to comeback and win the game.
Wimbledon have been struggling thus far and conceding a late goal at Ipswich to lose the game certainly will not help confidence. 1.53 does not represent great value to back as a single, but would be a decent addition to any accumulator this weekend.
Wycombe Wanderers vs Southend United – Fred Onyedinma to Score @ 3.0
Since returning to Wycombe on a permanent deal, Onyedinma has left the Chairboys faithful purring with some dazzling displays. The skilful winger has scored in both home games so far and he seems to love playing at Adams Park. Southend have not picked up a point yet this season. Their shaky defence will not be relishing the battle with Onyedinma.
