Our EFL expert takes a look through the weekend’s fixtures and picks out his best bets in League One.
Milton Keynes Dons vs AFC Wimbledon – MK Dons Win @ 1.95
Wimbledon have had a poor start to the season. They have only amassed two points so far, both of which came at home. They look to be lacking attacking quality so far this campaign.
MK Dons have already beat their rivals Wimbledon once this season, albeit on penalties, in the League Cup. With two league wins under their belt compared with Wimbledon’s zero, it looks as if this one could be heading the way of the home side.
Doncaster Rovers vs Rotherham United – Draw @ 3.30
It should be a fiery South Yorkshire derby on Saturday when Darren Moore’s unbeaten Doncaster welcome Rotherham to the Keepmoat Stadium. These two teams are fairly evenly matched on the pitch. Both sides have only played four games due to postponements. There is only one point separating them in the league table, too.
Doncaster arrive into this in slightly better form, having won their previous two league fixtures. Rotherham had the advantage of playing last weekend in the league, whilst Doncaster had no fixture. The bookies have Rotherham as slight favourites here, but a draw is great value for two evenly matched teams.
Coventry City vs Blackpool – BTTS @ 1.91
Similarly to the above fixture, these two teams look like they are pretty equal in terms of quality, as fourth hosts third in League One. Coventry have been involved in a few high scoring games already this season with 3-3 draws against both Portsmouth and Oxford United.
Blackpool have made a very impressive start during Simon Grayson’s second stint with the club. Both teams are locked on 12 points which is a great return after six matches. Blackpool’s last league game was a steady 1-1 draw with well fancied Portsmouth. BTTS looks decent value at 1.91.
Fleetwood Town vs Oxford United – Oxford Draw No Bet @ 2.50
Oxford arrive into this one at a pretty big price to beat Fleetwood, with the regular win odds being as high as 3.50. From an outside view, Oxford look as if they have not had a great start to the season but a mixture of injuries and tough fixtures have taken their toll on what is a talented squad.
Fleetwood have lost their last two games in all competitions and are on a run where they have only won one of their last six. With that in mind, the fact they come into this game as such clear favourites is slightly surprising. Draw No Bet on Oxford has some value in it here.
Wycombe Wanderers vs Lincoln City – BTTS @ 1.73
Both sides have began the campaign in better fashion than many, maybe even including themselves, expected. They both sit on 12 points and are just two points behind league leaders Ipswich Town who do not play this weekend. A victory could take the winner of this top of the league.
Wycombe are well renowned for being involved in high scoring games at Adams Park. They have already won 3-2 and 4-3 at home this season.
Lincoln are a side who look likely to score goals no matter who they play against, as they showed in their 4-2 defeat to Premier League Everton in the League Cup. This should be a cracker at Adams Park – the result is tough to call but we can certainly expect some goals.
