MyBetBuddy’s EFL expert takes a look through the weekend’s League Two fixtures and picks out his five best bets.
Bradford City vs Northampton Town – Bradford Win @ 2.10
Bradford have been slightly underwhelming so far this campaign for what the talent in their squad possesses. Tough fixtures against Forest Green Rovers and Crewe Alexandra resulted in defeats but a home match against Northampton gives Gary Bowyer’s side a great chance to get back on track.
This is a repeat of the 2013 League Two play-off final, a match where the Bantams stormed to a 3-0 victory. Bradford have won five of their last six games against Northampton so they should be confident of securing another positive result on Saturday.
Cambridge United vs Forest Green Rovers – Forest Green Win @ 3.20
It was tempting to go for a Forest Green Draw No Bet here at 2.20 but the value of a 3.20 standard win is too good to turn down. Cambridge have had disappointing defeats to Port Vale and Oldham in their last two league games either side of a 6-0 loss to Swansea City in the League Cup.
Forest Green are a good side with plenty of attacking threats in their team. They have already shown what they are capable of away from home this season with an impressive victory at Bradford. 3.20 is a ridiculous price here for them to win.
Leyton Orient vs Swindon Town – BTTS @ 1.67
Swindon have had no problems scoring goals so far this season. Eoin Doyle has come in from Bradford to link back up with his former manager Richie Wellens. It seems Wellens knows how to get the best out of Doyle, Doyle was prolific at Oldham under his guidance and has hit the ground running at Swindon. Doyle is the division’s leading scorer with five goals so will always posses a threat for the Robins.
Orient have had a solid start in their first campaign back in the EFL. Both teams have scored in Orient’s last three league games which shows they have a decent record in this market.
Newport County vs Port Vale – Newport Win @ 2.15
Michael Flynn’s Newport are on a ridiculous unbeaten run in the league. The Exiles are currently 16 league games unbeaten. They defeated last season’s play-off semi finalists Forest Green away from home last weekend which was a very impressive result.
Port Vale are an okay side but it is unlikely they will be competing towards the top end of the table come May. 2.15 is a very good price for Newport to win here.
Plymouth Argyle vs Oldham Athletic – Plymouth Win @ 1.73
Ryan Lowe’s sides are known for being very strong at home. It was home form that carried his Bury side to promotion from this division last season. So far, Plymouth have won two and drawn one from their three home league fixtures. Lowe knows how to get his team playing good football and they should have few problems against a weak Oldham side.
Oldham only have one win in the league this season and currently sit third from bottom in the table. The Latics seem to be struggling for goals so far with only three scored. They will find it tough against a strong Plymouth side. 1.73 represents superb odds on Plymouth here.
