Weekend Dutch Football tips: Goals to flow as the top two square off

FC Emmen vs Feyenoord – Feyenoord over 1.5 team goals @ 1.4

Feyenoord suffered some lapses in concentration against Den Haag last week, but we’ll put that down to a slightly rotated team with their eyes firmly fixed on their Europa League tie against Rangers.

Regardless of some mistakes, they once again looked lethal going forward and secured back to back wins in a game where they could have scored any number of goals. Emmen have now lost four of their five matches and in the four they’ve lost they have conceded at least two in each. They’ve already shipped 14 goals this season and I expect the hosts to add to that.

PSV vs Ajax – Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals @ 1.61

The standout fixture this weekend as the two title favourites and current league leaders meet. These two have also scored the most in the league; 19 for Ajax and 14 for PSV in just five games each. Both clubs come in to this match off the back of a four game winning run where they have brushed aside those in their path.

I’m hoping for a real spectacle here, the sheer amount of attacking talent on show should be enough to make for a classic encounter. It’s tough to pick a winner, so I’m sticking to goals for this one.

Vitesse vs Fortuna Sittard – Vitesse -1 @ 1.66

No matter what they do, it seems as if SIttard just can’t secure a win in the Eredivisie this season. Their defensive frailties have seen them conceded 12 goals in just five games. Only Emmen and Groningen have scored less goals, also.

With Vitesse scoring at least two goals in every home game so far, I fear for the beating they could give Sittard if they start strongly.

Sparta Rotterdam vs RKC Waalwijk – Sparta to win @ 1.4

After an electrifying start, Sparta have tailed off in recent weeks with back to back defeats. However they have had to play Ajax and Az Alkmaar, so you can forgive them for finally coming unstuck in their return to the top flight. Waalwijk have displayed the opposite end of the scale in terms of the newly promoted sides success; six games, one point and a mammoth 20 goals conceded.

Sparta beat them twice last season and I don’t expect them to slip up here.

FC Twente vs Heracles – Both teams to score @ 1.5

Twente have been incredible to watch so far this season, there has been 21 goals in their first six matches. With BTTS landing in five of those. They face a Utrecht side who have seen 23 goals in their six matches, BTTS has landed in every single one of Utrecht’s games this season.

What we have here is a clash between two sides who can’t stop scoring, but can’t stop conceding, it should be an absolute cracker.
