After a poor run of domestic form and a problematic 2-2 draw with Slavia Prague in the first leg of their beloved Europa League; Sevilla are on the ropes. Can Sociedad utilise their solid away form to get a result?
Los Rojiblancos have failed to win in their last five in all competitions and have lost three on the bounce in La Liga. The Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan is the ideal venue for them to take back some control, with just two defeats in their 12 home matches this campaign and an average of two goals per game in front of their own fans they’ll be chasing a home win to resurrect their form. Sevilla have now fallen behind Getafe and laves in the race to be the best of the rest, Getafe are now five points clear in fourth, with Alaves three ahead in fifth. Sevilla will be disappointed at the size of the gap between them and the top three, they’re 11 points behind Atletico Madrid and more worryingly they have four teams that are within just three points of them.
At least there’s been some entertainment in this poor run for Sevilla, each of their last four has featured over 2.5 goals and in eight of their last 10 at home they have scored two or more goals, so backing over 2.5 goals at a price of 1.73. If you fancy Sevilla to bounce back from their slump and get a win, they are the favourites at a price of 1.57.
The visitors are out at 4.5 to win on Sunday, with win or draw available at 2.1. A price that looks great considering their performances away from home this season. Only Barcelona and Real Madrid have won more away games than Sociedad, they have taken only one point less on their travels than the formidable Atletico Madrid. They have taken more points and scored more goals in their away matches this campaign than they have at home, and with Sevilla labouring to poor results recently they’ll be more than up for playing the underdog on Sunday evening.
Mikel Oyarzabal is the key man for the visitors, with no Willian Jose for this game, the tricky winger will have to step up and do his best to support Juanmi. Oyarzabal possesses the moment of brilliance that the visitors may need, his quick feet and direct running could cause Sevilla some real problems and in a tight game he could be the difference that they need. Oyarzabal is the shortest price of any visiting player to score, he’s at 9.0 first and 4.0 anytime.
The reason Sevilla’s game often feature such a high number of goals is the fantastic attack they have on display, Wissam Ben Yedder, Andre Silva, Pablo Sarabia and Munir are all top players and have shown their ability to score goals. Ben Yedder has helped himself to 12 goals in this campaign, Andre Silva has nine and Pablo Sarabia has eight, of which, six have been at home so a price of 2.8 anytime looks like excellent value.
Sarabia also provides a real creative spark for Sevilla; capable of operating in central or wide positions he’s often exceptionally difficult to pick up. Alongside Ever Banega and Franco Vazquez, Sevilla definitely have quality in the right areas to supply their attackers. Andre Silva is the bookies favourite for a goal in this clash, he’s priced at 1.83 anytime or 3.6 first.
Over 2.5 goals @ 1.73
Both teams to score @ 1.73
Mikel Oyarzabal to score anytime @ 4.0
