PSV all but confirmed they won’t be retaining their Eredivisie title, as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat away at AZ Alkmaar this weekend. With Ajax beating Utrecht 4-1, PSV now need to win, with Ajax losing with a 14-goal turnaround. With Ajax travelling to relegation worried De Graafschaap, this essentially means the title race is all but over.
Heracles on the other hand come to the Philips Stadion, having secured a spot in the Europa League playoffs will be on cloud nine. They were involved in a thriller vs Excelsior on the weekend ending with a 5-4 defeat, but they had their Europa League Playoff spot confirmed as Willem II lost to Emmen. With the nature of the defeat on the weekend vs Excelsior (leading 4-2, conceding two goals in the last five minutes), Heracles morale may be low, but with 7th place still in their hands, they won’t be a pushover for PSV.
Heracles have been fantastic in front of goal recently, it’s just their frailties at the back which have cost them, especially when on the road. They’ve averaged 1.8 goals scored and 1.97 conceded over the season, meaning a massive 3.77 goals per game. Adding that to PSV’s goal scoring exploits (averaging 3.64 goals per match this season). I know what direction I’d be going down for this match and that’s goals.
PSV have more than definitely been the dominant side over the course of history in their head to heads. PSV won 24, drawn 4 and lost just a single match out of their 29 H2H clashes with Heracles. At home, they’ve been even more dominant, winning 13 and drawing just 1 of 14 home clashes with Heracles, boasting a massive 40-5 aggregate scoreline.
With the current form of the two sides and obviously the odds, it’s really tough to see past a PSV victory here and I’d be keen to go for the market of PSV Win & BTTS (1.90). I’m expecting PSV to want to sign off the season with a big performance in front of their own fans at the Philips Stadion.
I’ve got to be looking at a goals bet for this one, all the stats point towards it and with PSV’s attacking prowess, surely they can break down a very dodgy Heracles defence. One bet I mentioned earlier that I really like the look of is PSV Win & BTTS (1.90). With Heracles defensive issues being heavily highlighted at the weekend (conceding five goals to an already relegated Excelsior). One bet which I like the look of is PSV – Over 2.5 Team Goals (1.50).
I also had a look at PSV on the -2 Handicap, but at only 2.10, I don’t think that’s enough value to interest me. I do believe that PSV will dominate the match and really take the game to Heracles, but as I’ve said earlier Heracles are no mugs going forward and I expect them to find the scoresheet.
With goals definitely being at the forefront of this match, I’m also keen on PSV & Over 3.5 Goals (1.72). As I said I’m expecting Heracles to find the scoresheet, but PSV should really take Heracles to the sword for their final match this season.
From a goalscorer perspective, I like the look of Luuk De Jong – First Goalscorer (3.75), the Dutchman will be looking to hold onto his current top position of the Eredivisie Golden Boots, as he currently leads Dusan Tadic by two goals.
PSV Win & BTTS @ 1.90
Luuk De Jong – First Goalscorer @ 3.75
PSV – Over 2.5 Team Goals
