By the time Norwich step out on to the turf at Carrow Road they could be just 90 minutes from confirming automatic promotion but Sheffield Wednesday will be no pushovers.
Top of the league, unbeaten in 10 games and in possession of the league’s player of the season and young player of the season, it’s all looking pretty good for The Canaries. If Sheffield United lose to Nottingham Forest on Friday lunch time then Norwich could guarantee their promotion to the top flight with a win over Steve Bruce’s Sheffield Wednesday.
Only Aston Villa and West Brom have hit more home goals than Norwich this season and they only better them by one singular goal. It’s always been entertaining watching Norwich this season; they’ve now been part of games featuring over 2.5 goals in 12 of their last 13 matches at Carrow Road. Daniel Farke has instilled a superb attacking mentality in to his players and any game that has Teemu Pukki leading the line always has the potential for goals. The Finn has 27 goals in the league and he’s got 15 of those in front of his own fans. You can find him at the shortest odds of any player to open the scoring at a price of 3.75 with an anytime goal at 1.91.
The owl’s revival
Since Steve Bruce took the reigns at Hillsborough, his side have been solid. They’ve made themselves incredibly difficult to beat and even if they fail to go up this season which looks quite likely then they have a fantastic base to build on when they kick off their next campaign and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them mixing it with the big boys at the top of the table next season.
Wednesday sit six points outside the play offs with just four games remaining. A play off spot looks unlikely but much stranger things have happened; however a result here is crucial to keep their feint hopes alive. They’re far outsiders at a price of 6.5 for a win, but I think there’s definitely some value in a Wednesday win or draw at 2.5. The Owls have suffered just two defeats in their last twelve matches and with Norwich stuttering ever so slightly they may quite fancy themselves to cause a stir in this game. There’ll be a couple of changes for the visitors as Marco Matias will step in to the line-up, the Portuguese winger’s flair and ability could be crucial if the game is tight. It also looks likely that Adthe Nuhiu will also start, he’ll lead the line alongside Steven Fletcher. Nuhiu is an absolute man mountain and will be a real handful from set pieces which could be a successful avenue for the visitors to take advantage of. Nuhiu could be a great pick for a goal scorer, he’s at 4.5 anytime to find the net.
A close contest
Both these sides have impressed consistently over the past two months. Norwich have been far from convincing in their last couple of matches which may lead to some squad rotation but I think they most likely still have a bit too much for Wednesday. I can see The Owls getting on the scoresheet, which makes both teams to score at 1.75 look like a fantastic price. I fancy Norwich to have the legs to see the game over the line, a Norwich win and both teams to score at 3.0 looks good. This game has huge repercussions for the league, so here’s hoping for another brilliant game at Carrow Road.
Teemu Pukki to score anytime @ 1.91
Norwich to win and BTTS @ 3.0
Over 2.5 goals @ 1.65
