New York City FC come into this midweek clash against the Chicago Fire on the back of an impressive victory away from home in the capital against DC United. NYCFC are still searching for their first home win of 2019, and they will see this game against the Fire as a great opportunity to grab it.
Chicago Fire will also enter the game on the back of a big win, however it’s their away form that makes an NYCFC win seem like a formality. The Fire haven’t tasted victory in their last 14 on the road, with their last win coming in Orlando back in May 2018.
Despite a disappointing defeat at home against NYCFC last time out, DC United still top the Eastern Conference as they head to Columbus during the week. 4/1 seems a very attractive price for a DC win but even double chance to provide that safety net of a draw at above evens is the right way to go in my opinion.
Ben Olsen’s side are unbeaten in their last five away from home and Columbus Crew head into this game recovering from back-to-back defeats, including a 3-1 beating at home at the hands of the Portland Timbers.
An Eastern Conference clash between New England Revolution vs Montreal Impact is probably the least attractive match-up during the week – No offence to either side.
I think going under 2.5 goals in this fixture proves to be good value as 4/5 of the Revolutions home games have gone under, and they have also failed to score in three of them. Montreal aren’t exactly big scorers either as they couldn’t find the net in three of their last five, a run of games which included two 0-0’s.
Minnesota United face LA Galaxy next which will be the second-ever match at their new home, the stunning Allianz Field. This is guaranteed to be a thrilling Western Conference clash thanks to the Loons’ ability to score as well as leak several goals.
Over 2.5 goals has landed in Minnesota’s last seven straight games and there has been a ridiculous 13 goals scored during their last two outings against NYCFC and Toronto.
The Galaxy are in very good form having won six of their last seven, and they are probably good value to get a result on the road during the week. However, I think goals is the best and safest outcome to back in this fixture.
If you are looking for a banker from Major League Soccer during the midweek fixtures, then a Seattle Sounders victory is what I would suggest. They’re short at 1.40 for the win, so I would probably advise win and over 2.5 goals which comes at slightly better value at 1.83.
San Jose Earthquakes are simply horrific away from home, there’s no other way to put it. They have lost nine of their last ten on their travels – including seven on the bounce. It’s impossible to even suggest that there would be a chance of them picking something up against a Seattle side who are so strong at CenturyLink Field year on year.
NYCFC to win @ 1.66
D.C. United and draw @ 2.20
New England Revolution vs Montreal Impact – Under 2.5 goals @ 2.05
Minnesota United vs LA Galaxy – Over 2.5 goals @ 1.50
Seattle Sounders to win and over 2.5 goals @ 1.83
