It’s Rivalry Week across Major League Soccer this week and this is without doubt going to be the highlight of the weekend. The two LA clubs meet in a game which should provide goals whilst having plenty of superstars on show.
LAFC have made a mockery of the league in 2019 by dominating so heavily. They sit top of the Western Conference on 61 points, 19 points more than Minnesota United in 2nd and they also have a game in hand at their disposal. LAFC also have a ridiculous goal difference of +46 thanks to the likes of Carlos Vela and Diego Rossi who have scored 40 goals between them so far.
Bob Bradley’s LAFC are on a great run of form, winning their last five games in succession. Their latest was a 4-0 win over the San Jose Earthquakes where Carlos Vela bagged ‘that’ goal which ended up going viral. The Galaxy are experiencing very different fortunate currently as they have only picked up one win from their last six games in all competitions, and they have lost three of their last five in MLS.
These two sides have only met four times before with LAFC only becoming an MLS franchise recently, however when they do meet, there’s goals. In each of the four meetings, both teams have managed to find the back of the net. As well as that, three of the four meetings had seen over 3.5 goals and two had seen over 4.5. The last meeting wasn’t that long ago as the Galaxy were 3-2 winners at the end of last month, thanks to a hat-trick from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The home side will be without Javier Perez who is ruled out for the rest of the season after tearing his ACL. They could also be without Alejandro Guido who is doubtful with a right quad strain.
Romain Alessandrini will continue his absence as he recovers from knee surgery. The Galaxy will be without Daniel Steres who picked up a straight red card in their last match and they could also miss Perry Kitchen who has a groin injury.
LAFC to win with both teams scoring looks like superb value at 2.20, given the fact that both teams have scored in every meeting so far and LAFC are in ridiculous form this year. LAFC have won 11 of their last 12 home games in MLS and they have managed to score at least four goals in each of their last five at the Banc of California stadium. The LA Galaxy have lost six of their last seven away from home in all competitions so LAFC to pick up another win with both teams scoring looks like real value this weekend.
Over 2.5 goals and Both Teams to Score looks like a banker at 1.53 given the fact that it has been successful in three of their four meetings. It has also been a successful selection in four of LAFC’s last five home outings.
2.50 would usually look ridiculously short for over 4.5 goals, but it’s not as far as these two sides are concerned. As I mentioned prior, there had been 5+ goals in two of the four meetings between them. As well as that, LAFC’s last five home games read 4-2, 6-1, 4-3, 4-2 and 4-0. That’s four of their last five seeing 6+ goals which is absolutely incredible.
