LA Galaxy will be looking forward to returning home to face NYCFC after suffering back-to-back defeats on the road against the New York Red Bulls and Columbus Crew. The Galaxy are currently enjoying an impressive run of six home wins on the trot, so they will be hoping to keep that going this weekend and extend it to seven.
NYCFC aren’t on a bad run of form themselves as they’re unbeaten in their last six games. Domenec Torrent’s side have also seemingly improved away from home, winning two of their last three. However, before that, they went on a poor run of losing six of eight on the road.
It was a 3-1 defeat for LA Galaxy last time out in Columbus, they will need a response as they get ready to take on another strong Eastern Conference side in New York City FC. NYCFC had different fortune in their last game as they picked up three points in Montreal convincingly as they kept their third clean sheet in four games.
New York City dominate the head to head record between them and the Galaxy, winning 75% of the games but you can’t take much from that as they have only met four times since NYCFC’s introduction to Major League Soccer in 2015. NYCFC also haven’t travelled to the StubHub Center since August 2017.
Perry Kitchen remains an absentee for LA Galaxy with a foot injury and Julian Araujo is considered a doubt for Saturday’s game after picking up a similar issue. Romain Alessandrini remains on the side lines and will do so for the next four months as he recovers from knee surgery.
NYCFC have a few injury concerns of their own as there are question marks over the fitness of James Sands, Ronald Matarrita and Alexandru Mitrita ahead of Saturday’s long cross-country trip to California.
I believe the LA Galaxy to score two or more goals against NYCFC on Saturday evening looks like a good bet at 1.80 when you look at their home form and how consistently they find the back of the net. The Galaxy have managed to score at least twice in their last nine games at home, so I think it’s a good bet for them to make it ten.
2.10 for a home win also looks like really good value as LA Galaxy are proving to be a very strong side in 2019 as they sit second in the Western Conference with an impressive home record. Despite a recent blip on the road with two defeats in two, I’d expect them to put that right with a win back on home soil.
Over 2.5 goals in the match looks like an absolute certainty as that has landed in seven of LA Galaxy’s last eight home games. NYCFC have managed to score in nine of their last ten games away from the Yankee Stadium so we should be in for a goal fest on Saturday evening with both teams finding the net most likely.
LA Galaxy to win @ 2.10
LA Galaxy to score over 1.5 goals @ 1.80
Over 2.5 goals @ 1.57
