MyBetBuddy’s EFL expert takes a look at the weekend’s League Two fixtures and picks out his five best bets.
Crewe Alexandra vs Cambridge United – Crewe Win @ 1.75
Crewe are flying high in the league at the moment – currently occupying one of the automatic promotion places. Their last match was an impressive 2-0 win over another top seven side in Grimsby Town.
Cambridge are on a four game losing streak in all competitions. They have not been performing well and face a big challenge if they are to get a result from Gresty Road.
Northampton Town vs Newport County – Newport Draw No Bet @ 1.91
Newport are on a 17 match unbeaten run that stretches all the way back to March. They are proving to be so tough to beat under Michael Flynn as that record suggests. If they avoid defeat again in this game to struggling Cobblers, then the Draw No Bet market will at least guarantee that the punter does not lose money on this selection.
Salford City vs Cheltenham Town – BTTS @ 1.73
Both teams have scored in each of Salford’s last five league fixtures. They have scored and conceded exactly 10 goals which suggests that they are as open defensively as they are threatening going forward.
Salford come up against another attacking side in Cheltenham. The Robins have had a good start to the season, with plenty of goals. Their most recent match was an entertaining 4-2 win over Stevenage. This game should be an open one so expect a few goals.
Stevenage vs Carlisle United – BTTS @ 1.67
These two sides have both been pretty poor defensively so far this campaign. Stevenage are second bottom of the league and seem to be unable to stop conceding goals. Six goals shipped in their last two games shows that they will usually be open defensively.
Carlisle are a team that love a both teams to score. Their last match was a 3-1 defeat to Exeter City which demonstrates the type of game they usually partake in.
Swindon Town vs Macclesfield Town – Swindon Win @ 1.53
Swindon have started the campaign brilliantly and are only one point outside the automatic promotion places. They have the most in-form striker in the division in Eoin Doyle so will always be a team who can score goals and cause problems.
Macclesfield played midweek to Grimsby Town in the EFL Cup, losing on penalties. That will be sure to hamper preparation for this fixture at the County Ground as well as drain them physically and mentally. Swindon win here is a good bet.
