MyBetBuddy’s EFL expert takes a look through the weekend’s Championship fixtures and picks out his five best bets.
Barnsley are in a real slump towards the bottom of the table. They have not won a single match, in all competitions, since the opening day of the season. That is a total of 17 matches in all competitions with no victory.
Hull are always going to score goals with Jarrod Bowen in the team, they should be able to take advantage of Barnsley’s leaky defence. No Champiosnhip player has scored more than Bowen this season. Fresh from their 4-0 win over high-flying Preston North End, Hull will have a great chance here to move close to the play-offs.
Brentford have been one of the Championship’s form teams in recent weeks. They have picked up 19 points from their last 10 games which has taken them to within touching distance of the play-offs.
Luton, on the other hand, have been out of form in recent weeks. Before their midweek home win over Charlton Athletic, they had lost five consecutive games. They have not picked up a single away point since September.
Leeds have been on an excellent run of form of late which has seen them move five points clear of third place. They have taken 13 points from their last five game and look to be very strong this season.
Middlesbrough are lingering towards the bottom of the table. They have not won a single match away from home this season. It would be very, very surprising if they got anything from this.
Michael O’Neill has had a very impressive start to life as Stoke manager. He has won his first two opening games as Potters boss.
Blackburn come to town having lost four consecutive away matches. Rovers seem to be able to pick up points at home but struggle away.
This game could be a very dull affair. Neither side are in particularly great form. Reading have lost their last two matches by the same scoreline – 1-0.
Wigan are winless in six. A lack of quality on show could result in a lack of goals in the match.
