19:45 Kick Off
Gareth Southgate’s England side head to Southampton for their Euro Qualifier with Kosovo tonight. It will be the first time the Three Lions first team have played at St Mary’s since October 2002 when Macedonia held Sven-Goran Eriksson’s side to a 2-2 draw.
England have looked very strong in the qualifiers so far. They’ve won 3/3 and have scored more than four goals in each game whilst just conceding one goal – they’ve barley put a foot wrong and will take huge confidence from that into tonight’s game.
However, I am expecting a much tougher challenge for England this time around. Kosovo will arrive in Southampton on a 15-match unbeaten run. That sort of form will give them huge confidence for the game and I expect them to have a real good go at England.
Three changes from the starting line-up are expected to be made tonight with Sky Sports News reporting that Jadon Sancho, Ben Chilwell and Trent Alexander-Arnold will start tonight in place of Marcus Rashford, Danny Rose and Kieran Trippier.
Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling to both score anytime (Double) @2.37
Both players are on fire for both their club and country at the moment. Kane has scored three goals in four games for Spurs so far this season whilst netting five goals in three Euro qualifiers for England. Sterling meanwhile has scored five goals in four games for Manchester City whilst netting five goals in three Euro qualifiers for England. They both found the net on Saturday and they’ll both be eager to replicate that tonight given the opportunity.
Both teams to score @2.55
England have more than enough quality to find the net tonight. The question with this bet is whether or not Kosovo do. Both teams to score would have landed in all of Kosovo’s previous five competitive matches. They’re putting FIFA’s 120th ranking to shame at the moment sitting in 2nd place of Group A and are coming into this game on the back of an impressive 2-1 win over the Czech Republic. I expect them to play with no fear tonight and to get on the scoresheet.
Over 3.5 goals @2.1
This game looks great for goals. If you had backed over 3.5 goals in each of England’s previous three qualifers, the bet would’ve landed. England go into the game averaging a combined 5 goals per game in qualifiers so far, whilst Kosovo are averaging 3. As explained above, I am expecting tonight’s game to be very attacking minded from both teams.
Kosovo over 20 booking points @2.5
I fully expect Kosovo to give it 120% tonight. If England can frustrate them, the latter stages of the match will see the away side commit fouls. They’ve had at least one booking in all four of their qualifiers so far and have averaged 20 booking points per game.
England to win and over 2.5 goals @1.44
I am expecting a closer encounter for the Three Lions tonight, but I do believe that they have more than enough quality to go and win the game. They’re unbeaten in Euro Championship qualifying since November 2007 (W18, D3) and should have no fear facing Kosovo who are FIFA ranked 120 in the world. Playing games away from Wembley has certainly ramped up the atmosphere in previous games and in-front of a sold out Saint Mary’s, I am expecting England to roar to victory. As explained above, this game looks solid for goals.
