I was so close to perfection with my weekend picks, only missing out on the full house thanks to Rangers failing to score! I’m back for a midweek special because there’s nearly a full card of Scottish league action over Tuesday and Wednesday night and I’m fancying getting 3/3 this time!
I really like the look of this League Two game on Tuesday night! Cowdenbeath will be expecting to collect all three points as they mount their push for a place in the play-offs against Albion. Gary Bollan’s men sit outside the play-offs only on goal difference and a win tonight would push them above Queens Park and Elgin and into 3rd place.
Their form has been patchy of late, winning just once in their last five games. Yet, the Blue Brazil are no mugs. They earned a good point last time out in a 1-1 draw with high-flying Edinburgh City and I’d expect them to get a bounce off of that result and should come into the game full of confidence.
As for Albion, they’ve won just once on the road this season and that was way back on the opening day of the campaign. They’ve also managed just the one win in their last seven games, and even that came against basement boys Brechin.
I thought long and hard about picking Cowdenbeath to win this game outright, but at 1.6 I really fancy Cowdenbeath Draw No Bet.
Morton are hitting their stride at the perfect moment and I fancy them to return from the long trip north with a positive result. The Ton are unbeaten in their last eight league outings and are starting to find the goal with regularity too! Their win over Queen of the South in Dumfries gave me the motivation to pick them here. A 4-0 hammering of Queens on their own turf doesn’t happy very often!
Like Cowdenbeath, a win for Morton tonight could see them jump into the Play-Offs but the reason I’ve opted for Morton Double Chance, and not an outright win, here is because of the home sides’ own promotion hopes.
Inverness are four points ahead of the Ton but find themselves in the middle of a mammoth month where they have to play nine games. Caley were dumped out of the Scottish Cup on Friday and could quickly see their season unravel if they get into the losing habit. Now is not the perfect time for a tired, out-of-sorts Inverness side to be taking on one of the form sides in the country in Morton.
I’m hoping fatigue catches up with John Robertson’s already-stretched and beleaguered squad and Morton can escape with at least a point, potentially more.
I’m hoping for goals in my Wednesday night pick! The two sides boast strong records when it comes to their games finishing with at least three goals. The hosts have seen a decent 61% of their matches end with a minimum of three goals, but it’s County’s record that really caught my eye. A whopping 71% of their 28 league games this season have come in at Over 2.5. More of the same here please!
While Motherwell’s Over 2.5 record isn’t as impressive as the visitors’, they do posses some strong individual attackers that have helped them make a serious push for third place this season. Tony Watt, Rolando Aaarons and Jermaine Hylton make for an exciting front line, but the return of David Turnbull should help them get the goals needed to fire them into the European places come the end of the season.
The enigmatic midfielder has missed the majority of the season but his return at the weekend was timely. The 20-year-old notched 15 goals in just 30 games last season, and despite Motherwell’s lofty position in the league, he has been missed.
Turnbull’s timely return, County’s incredible Over 2.5 record and Motherwell’s European push could mix together to make for one exciting, goal-filled game at Fir Park.
