The race for The Eredivisie title is still neck and neck as Ajax and PSV battle it out in this two horse race. Can Ajax steep the pressure on their rivals with a win here?
Vitesse in the goals
The Eredivisie is full of goals; for top flight European further you don’t need to look much further than this league for entertainment. On average there have been 3.35 goals per game in Vitesse’s games this campaign, they’re having a solid season in sixth place and have averaged scoring almost two goals per game and they’ll definitely be a threat to Ajax when they go forward. There has been an outrageous 26 goals in Vitesse’s last six outings in the league and I’d be expecting more action in this one. Over 2.5 goals is as short as 1.29 so I’d be plucking a bit higher at over 3.5 for odds of 1.75.
Vitesse don’t have one solitary threat either, their side has all pulled their weight this season and similarly to Ajax they have goals all over the pitch; not quite in the same quantity however. Bryan Linssen leads their charts with 12 league goals and is the shortest odds for a visiting goal scorer at 5.0 anytime. Matus Bero, Tim Matavz and Martin Odegaard have all chipped in handsomely this season too and will look to ask some defensive questions of their illustrious opponents.
There is some real sense to backing a Vitesse goal at 1.57 given the amount of goals they have scored this season.
The best in the league
For many now; after their European exploits it has confirmed that Ajax are the strongest side in the league. I expect them to go on and win the title but of course PSV will push them all the way. But this collective group of players are truly wonderful and could comfortably ply their trade in a stronger European League. The sad part is they’ll likely be picked apart by Europe’s elite in the summer. Frenkie De Jong is already heading to Barcelona and De Ligt could be next. They may also have to fend of interest in the likes of Donny Van De Beek, Hakim Ziyech and David Neres who have all caught the eye as a result of the sides remarkable run in The Champions League.
With the strength of their team I’d be siding with Ajax and a high score on this one. Ajax win and over 2.5 at 1.4 looks solid, or you could back Ajax to score over 2.5 themselves at 1.57. which is a good price for a side unbeaten at home who have score 55 goals in 16 games and the Amsterdam Arena, an average of well above three a game.
The other route could be to look in to picking a goal scorer. The shortest odds are Kasper Dolberg and Dusan Tadic at 1.67. I’d be drawn to Ziyech at 2.0 given that he’s hot 16 league goals this season; I also like David Neres at 2.5 anytime.
Side with the hosts
I’m afraid I can’t see Ajax being stopped this season, the side are flying on confidence after their incredible exploits on the worlds biggest stage. They’ve scored over 100 goals domestically this campaign and have only had one home defeat. With Vitesse’s high goal involvement I can see this being a really entertaining match but one that Ajax will prevail from relatively comfortably. I fancy Ajax and both teams to score at 2.2.
Ajax win and over 2.5 goals @ 1.4
David Neres to score anytime @ 2.5
Vitesse to score over 0.5 goals @ 1.57
