The final round of the PGA Championship is here and what an end to the tournament we have in prospect. A packed leaderboard, studded with stars of the game, new and old. Harding Park will play it’s part, as it has all week. It’s represented a very fair test. Find the fairways and you’ll give yourself plenty of birdie opportunities. Don’t find the fairways and pars become tricky, with only the bigger hitters capable of gouging the ball out of the rough and getting it anywhere near the green. This backs up the pre event feeling of this being a course to suit bigger hitters. It’s a leaderboard packed with quality ball strikers, with the majority being able to send it off the tee.
Just four shots separating the top 17 players, this tournament is wide open and it’s Dustin Johnson who scythed his way through the field yesterday with a round of -5, to lead by one heading into the final round. Though DJ has done most things adequately this week, it’s really the putter which has helped him get to this position, where he ranks 1st.
